Keith R. Mestrich is President and Chief Executive Officer of Amalgamated Bank. He has over three decades of experience in finance, many of those assisting the bank’s core constituencies in labor, nonprofits, political organizations and issue-advocacy campaigns. Keith joined Amalgamated in 2012 and directed the bank’s Washington, D.C. operation where he rebuilt Amalgamated’s presence in the nation's capital. Since his appointment as CEO in 2014, Keith has led Amalgamated’s financial recovery and the bank has grown to nearly $5 billion of assets. Under his leadership, the bank returned to profitability, improved its credit quality, installed a new management team and significantly grew its core deposit base. He has spearheaded initiatives to underscore Amalgamated’s mission, including support of a $15 minimum wage (and raising the bank's minimum wage to $15), acceptance of IDNYC as a primary form of ID, and certification as a B Corp. In 2017, Keith guided Amalgamated’s acquisition of San Francisco-based New Resource Bank, creating the nation’s largest socially responsible bank. Sam Brown joined Amalgamated Bank after serving as Director of the White House Business Council in the White House’s Office of Public Engagement. As President Obama’s liaison to the private sector, Sam worked on economic policies to help America’s working families and businesses succeed. Before leading the Business Council, Sam held various positions with President Obama. He served as founding Chief Operating Officer of Organizing for Action and Finance Chief of Staff for the Obama-Biden 2012 campaign.
Molly Culhane serves as Senior Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic Region and leads the Bank’s political banking practice. She brings two decades of executive financial and operational leadership to Amalgamated Bank. Prior to joining the Bank, Molly served as the White House Chief of Operations Services in the Office of Administration for President Obama. Molly also served as the Deputy CFO for President Obama’s reelection campaign and as the founding CFO of Organizing for Action. Prior, she served for a decade at The Boeing Company as an analyst in the finance, national security, and space groups, along with serving as a financial analyst for Mitchell Madison Group in London. Molly has received a Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin – Madison and studied national security for a Masters’ in Public Policy and Administration at Northwestern University.
Drew came to Amalgamated Bank in 2015 from JPMorgan Chase, where he was Chief Financial Officer for Business Banking. Prior to JPMC, Drew spent 17 years at Capital One Financial in various positions in operations, marketing and finance. Drew was a key member in building Capital One’s banking franchise through acquisitions and organic growth. He held positions as the CFO of Retail Banking and the CFO of Commercial Banking.
Responsible for overseeing Investment Management, Sales and Client Service, and Trust and Custody banking products, Jim has over 25 years of experience in pension and investment management, real estate and capital markets. Prior to joining Amalgamated, Jim worked at the AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation, where he led marketing, investor relations and labor relations efforts with Taft-Hartley and public fund investors in the AFL-CIO's Building Investment Trust and Equity Index Fund. Previously, he served in a similar role with the AFL-CIO Urban Development Fund and the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, where he was also a member of the Portfolio and Investment Committees.
Martin has over 15 years of experience in design, implementation and management of consumer digital financial services. He joins Amalgamated Bank from American Express, where he launched and led “Personal Savings” for six years and headed up the Strategic Planning Group international office in London. Prior to that, he was with Capital One, where he pioneered their first direct bank offering, led an internal team focused on enhancing customer experience, and developed a number of secure consumer online payment systems. Martin was also a consultant with McKinsey & Co. in Washington D.C., and led a technology start-up in Cambridge, UK.
Peter joined Amalgamated Bank in 2016 from Unum Group where he served nine years as Vice President of Brand and Advertising. He led the repositioning and marketing efforts for all of Unum’s insurance brands in the U.S. and U.K. Before that, Peter was a Senior Vice President at a number of large New York City advertising agencies including, Grey, JWT, Ogilvy and Bozell. Over his career, he has created integrated marketing campaigns for thirty-five companies including financial industry giants Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, NASDAQ and Commerce Bank.
Mark joined the bank from Morgan Stanley where he developed and executed a comprehensive, risk-based audit plan and developed an integrated scorecard to evaluate key risk indicators and audit issues. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mark held senior level audit positions at both international and national banks, such as Credit Agricole, Bankers Trust, Standard Chartered and Credit Suisse. Mark is a former President and current Executive Committee member of the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Internal Auditors Division. He is also a board member of his local church and a youth soccer coach and active NCAA soccer referee.
Arthur joined Amalgamated in 2012 to help improve the bank's regulatory standing and audit reporting, though his focus in recent years has been credit risk management. Through his career, Arthur has been responsible for credit risk, deal structuring, pricing, application development, vendor management and finance. He led finance, administrative and operations teams at various investment banks, including Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and UBS. Arthur began his career at GE Capital and at IPC, a designer of trading desk telecommunication. Arthur received his MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, and has earned degrees in Applied Math and Economics from Yale University.
Edgar joined Amalgamated Bank after completing law school in 2006. He began his tenure with the bank in the General Counsel office in the role of Associate General Counsel. For the first nine years, Edgar focused on regulatory compliance, examinations, corporate governance, and served as a legal adviser to Amalgamated’s senior management. For the next three years he managed the bank’s compliance and enterprise risk function as the Chief Compliance Officer then Chief Risk Officer. Currently, Edgar serves as the Northeast Regional Director overseeing a commercial banking and lending team focused on labor unions, nonprofits, social enterprises and community development organizations. He is active with various industry groups and serves on the NYC Workforce Development Board.
Bruce joined Amalgamated Bank in 2018 serving as the Chief Technology Officer overseeing the evolution of the banks technology environment. Bruce is an experienced IT leader who brings 30+ years of experience with the majority of his career spent in financial services. Possessing deep technical knowledge, cyber security expertise and broad industry experience, Bruce has lead key transformation programs throughout his career assisting companies with maximizing technology investments.
Over the last 20 years, Sean has held a number of leadership roles in Operations, Cash Management and Product Management. He came to Amalgamated in 2015 to lead the Product & Client Service team, where he oversaw commercial product development and enhanced the service model within Commercial Banking. Prior to joining Amalgamated, Sean worked in Global Transaction Banking at HSBC on the USD Clearing Product team, providing foreign financial institutions and multinational corporations access to the USD market. Before HSBC, Sean served in the Strategic Planning Group at Cathay Bank which managed product development across the Retail and Commercial segments.
Deborah joined the Amalgamated Bank's Legal department in 2007-08. Prior to joining Amalgamated, Deborah was Counsel at Lowenstein Sandler in New Jersey, specializing in Commercial Litigation. Earlier in her career, Deborah served as an Enforcement Attorney with the Office of Thrift Supervision.
Nina joined Amalgamated Bank through the merger with New Resource Bank where she was since 2015. As a Commercial Banker, she managed a portfolio of key clients including B Corps, organic food products, health and wellness, housing, sustainable technology, non-profits and unions. She brings a unique combination of banking experience and passion for socially responsible finance. Before joining New Resource Bank, Nina held various positions at Wells Fargo in the San Francisco, Washington DC, and Los Angeles areas. She began her career in Chicago with ABN-AMRO Bank. Nina is very passionate about sustainability, serves on the Board of the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition and is an integral part of the bank’s Green Team.
Sherry joined Amalgamated Bank in 2018 with extensive experience leading audit teams and advising businesses in the design and execution of internal controls and regulatory compliance management programs. Prior to joining Amalgamated Bank, Sherry served as Director of Risk Assurance for PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she was responsible for the delivery of internal audit and regulatory compliance services to global banking institutions. Prior to PwC, Sherry served in a number of risk and control leadership roles during her 10 years at SunTrust Bank, including technology, finance, and operational audit. Sherry is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the states of New York and Georgia. She is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified Risk and Controls Manager.
Tanisa came to Amalgamated Bank in 2019 from American Express. In her 18 years at American Express, she held various roles partnering with global organizations in Finance, Commercial Services and Publishing. She was responsible for leading the organization’s people strategy and creating winning talent strategy solutions. Prior to that she worked at Kings Borough Community College as the Affirmative Action and Judicial Affairs Officer.
